Branding for The Art of the Hollywood Backdrop Exhibition
The Boca Raton Museum of Art needed branding for a new touring exhibition of the painted Hollywood Motion Picture backdrops from films including The Wizard of Oz (MGM 1939), An American in Paris (MGM 1951), Singin' in The Rain (MGM 1952), and North by Northwest (MGM 1959). The client requested that I use the design work of Saul Bass as inspiration along with incorporating an overall film noir tone. I chose to use slanted text, alluding to the shape of a megaphone used on a film set and keep the color scheme minimal black and white to complement and enhance photos of the backdrops themselves when used on digital and print promotional materials.
